In December of 2012, Veritas was invited to sing for the Volunteers of America Christmas Convention, which was held in Mobile, AL and simulcasted to VOA chapters around the country. What followed was an invitation from VOA to perform at the national convention the following year, which would be held in Washington, DC. Since then, Veritas has performed at each national convention, as well as certain regional events and will perform once again at the 2015 national convention in Los Angeles, CA.
Volunteers of America was founded in 1896 by social reformers Ballington and Maud Booth. They envisioned a movement dedicated to “reaching and uplifting” the American people. On behalf of the organization, the Booths pledged to “go wherever we are needed, and do whatever comes to hand.” That declaration continues to guide Volunteers of America’s outreach efforts today. Through hundreds of human service programs, including housing and healthcare, Volunteers of America touches the lives of more than 2 million people in over 400 communities in 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico each year. The vision of Volunteers of America is “a world where all people live in safety, with social, emotional and physical well-being, spiritual fulfillment, justice and hope.”
The vision of VOA struck a chord with Veritas which has led to a productive partnership between both parties. During Veritas’ 2015 touring season, 25 concerts will be sponsored by Volunteers of America. Veritas hopes that this partnership will allow the mission and vision of VOA to receive awareness and that it will go to further their cause in touching and enriching the lives of families and individuals across the country.
